" I've often felt that there is someting almost cinematic about many Sean-nós songs. The fact that they are episodic rather than narrative enhances that feeling for me.

This book was my opportunity to compliment these richly textured songs by adding visuals in the form of woodcut prints, often based on a particular line of the songs. In doing so I pay homage to the song tradition and to the evocative stories these songs pass down to us.
