‘Miracles Appear When Loved Ones Are Near’

Can you imagine, for a moment, being in a foreign country thousands of miles from

home with the love of your life? Being together, as a couple, for ten years. Two

young people in their twenties planning a future. And, then…One sunny day, David

travels with friends to a GAA competition in British Columbia. They take a pit stop

and David playfully jumps off a bridge into Kinbasket Lake to cool off. Only, David

does not successfully emerge from the cool water. Tragically, he gets pulled under

and drowns. What is worse is that his body cannot be located. And so, begins a ten-

month journey involving campaigns in Ireland and Canada, families, friends,

professionals and kind-hearted people to find his body and bring him home for a

burial in Ireland.

David’s girlfriend, Ciara, and the two families and friends were up against all the

odds. They were dealing with a monster of a lake and, at times, the possibility of this

looked utterly bleak and their mission impossible. But they were strong, resilient.

Hope prevailed and, ultimately, David was found beneath the ice and brought home

to be buried in his beloved Mayo.

Ciara believes that she witnessed a miracle and shares this and her journey with

readers. This book is intended to uplift and inspire others to seek their own inner

strength and courage in the face of adversity. To use Ciara’s story to empower others

to never give up hope, even when faced with the worst challenges. To enlighten

others that miracles do happen when we have hope. To show others, we are so

guided, loved and protected by our loved ones.
