The Easter Rising heavily effected the city of Dublin, most of the events took place in the capital and directly impacted the Dublin City Council. Dublin City Hall which belonged to the Council, was one of the sights where some fighting occurred along with other sites around the city. Some employees of the council took part in the rising, while others were left to deal with the aftermath of the Rising. This book is a compilation of essays that were the first to study and examine the impact of Dublin City Council on the 1916 Rising and its effects on the council. It also analyses the political background of the council which included members from Labour and Sinn Fein, Irish Party and unionists. It also features a full list of council employees involved in the Easter Rising.
