Caribbean Slave Owners and Other lesser-known Histories from County Mayo is concerned with some of the lesser known histories of County Mayo. The twenty short histories explore wide ranging, but in many cases inter related themes including colonialism, abuse of power, religious persecution, famine, military and police killings of civilians, the emergence of a free press in Mayo, and Mayo’s position in the wider Atlantic Basin world of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
