This book is a mixture of reminiscence, history and anecdote. Finding a unique, but abandoned, item of kitchen furniture from her former family home became the catalyst for Magdalen O'Connell revisiting Castlebar, in spirit and in reality. The rediscovery of a treasured marble table triggered her esolve to deepn her connection with the West and embark on some research about the town of her birth that she didn't really know so well at all.
