• Castlebar in Old Photographs

We were delighted to launch this title,  Castlebar in Old Photographs on April 16th, 2013. It was a fantastic evening, and we hope that you will agree with us when we say that this is a fantastic book and a great resource on the local literature of Castlebar.

Castlebar is a town bursting with history, from the Races of Castlebar in 1798, to being the scene of the foundation of both the short lived Republic of Connaught and the longer lasting Land League.

This bustling town is the capital of Co. Mayo, and has long held its own courthouse, gaol, famine warehouse, asylum, hospital, four different churches, a convent and a monastery, together with schools, an airport and every kind of business. In this book, author Joe Curtis captures a flavour of life in the town over time through a fascinating collection of images both old and new.
