This acclaimed commemorative publication
celebrates the life and boxing exploits of Jim Coffey who was one of Ireland’s
greatest heavyweight boxers of yesteryear. Jim Coffey was born in Tully, Carrowbehy on
the borders of Mayo and Roscommon between the towns of Ballyhaunis and
Loughglynn. He immigrated to the United States of America to be become an
internationally feted heavyweight boxer and star of a growing global Irish
diaspora. A friend of Count John McCormack, Coffey returned to Ireland on
his boxing retirement to his preferred
farming lifestyle and continued to be an inspiration to aspiring boxers and
sportspeople alike.
