Geraldine Mitchell's wonderful book tells the story of Muriel Gahan, who in 1930 established The Country Shop, a unique and forwarding thinking institution located on St. Stephen's Green in Dublin. Ms. Gahan was deeply involved in the ICA and was also involved in the establishement of the County Markets Ltd.

Ms. Gahan's family lived in Castlebar, Co. Mayo for a time, and this period is detailed in the book, in a chapters titled 'Wild and Wooly Castlebar' and 'The Time of my Life - Castlebar 1919-1926'
