• Lough Carra

Lough Carra lies along the western edge of the plain of Mayo, about 15km south of the County Town of Castlebar, about 15km west of Claremorris and 5km north of Ballinrobe. The irish grid reference for the notional centre of the lough is M1872. It covers an area of approx 4000 acres and is mostly shallow, hard water lake, i.e. it is alkaline.
