Westport, designed in the Georgian style by William Wyatt during the late 18th century fronts onto the approacheds to Clew Bay. It makes for a natural start - end point for the journey through Mayo and North Connemara.
Making its way over bog & heathland through the Sheeffry Hills t Killary Fjord and beyond along the Atlantic coastline, under the shadow of the Twelve Bens, the route and its surrounding scenery is often as 'raw' as it is spectacular. Isolated and open to the elements, the terrain bears nature's scars, when viewed under low - lying cloudy skies.
This wonderful pocket guide provides a useful, durable and user friendly guide to this wonderful part of the West of Ireland.
