A Sense of Place celebrates the unsung beauty of the bog with its rare species of flora and fauna. Kilteevan people, including centenarian, John Mooney, are also honoured. One of the chapters recalls memories of working in the bog in the late 1940's and 1950's. Places of historical interest such as the Mass Rock, Cloonsellan Monastery, and the magnificent ceiling in the Old Church, which was painted by Italian artists using dye from bog plants, are memorialised. Since Kilteevan nestles between Lough Ree and the Hind River the final section of the book celebrates the wonder and majesty of these waters.
