From February 2012 to March 2013, I worked in South Sudan as a volunteer education advisor. Despite daunting challenges and being away from my family, it proved to be a most rewarding and fulfilling time personally. This is my account of what was, for me a wonderful experience.
“This book is a concise, meaty, and personal overview at environmental, cultural, political, economic and legal levels of an infant state struggling to get on its feet. It is a unique reminder of the enormous odds that have to be faced by a newly emergent and grossly disadvantaged African country, and of the personal gains that can accrue to volunteers from their contribution in time and effort to the building of a new nation.’’ Dr Michael Reynolds (Castlebar).
