This book a commentary on the Bible. Human beings cannot live without a story that is going somewhere. The Bible is a story with a beginning, middle and end. The book aims to show that the perennial questions about the origin, meaning and purpose of human life are as relevant today as when the Bible was written with an ancient audience in mind. The answers the Bible provides are both reasonable and enlightening: in the beginning, God placed human beings in this world and appointed them to a mission of caring for the earth and of one another. The discharge of this mission gives us a reason and a purpose for living. It represents the first step towards the fulfilment of our destiny of union with one another and with God.

Rather than being strictly academic, the aim of the book is devotional and inspirational.
