Willie Costello has captured the quintessential nature of a special era in Irish rural society. The day to day life in the general Claremorris area, which he writes about so eloquently, could easily be transplanted into almost any small town and countryside on this island. Just as his fellow county man, John Healy, touched the hearts of a generation of Irish People with Nineteen Acres and No One SHouted Stop, Willie Costello has also 'caught' the essential social history of his home place. A lovely read.
