• Seoda Mhuigheo Thuaidh

The fulcrum of 'Seoda Mhuigheo Thuaidh' is mainly focla agus seanfhocla. They are, in the main, from our native Gaeltachtaí and rural life, and they are a wealth of common sense. They are bold, descriptive, and full of who we are. They have the smell of the ploughed field ( Mar shamplaí: 'Sceitheann fíon fírinne', 'Is olc an chearc a chacann ar a h-uibheacha féin', 'Is deacair giorria a chur as tom, nuair nach bhfuil sé ann')

'Seoda Mhuigheo Thuaidh', written by John Cosgrave was borne from discussions at Irish lectures in Galway university. The author has preserved phrases, seanfhocla, blessings and place names of the North Mayo Gaeltachtaí and presented them in a beautifully produced hardback book.

The book also contains some wonderful images, showing life in gaeltacht areas such as Fód Dubh, Each Léim, Dubh Thuama, Dubh Airc, Gaoth Sáile, Baile Cruaich and Dún Choacháin.
