Details:
This book records forever Bohola Church’s extraordinary and colourful journey through history.  With nearly as many photographs as it is years old and interesting stories, the book makes a wonderful read,  not only for the Bohola native but for anybody interested in how Ireland has evolved and changed over the past 150 years.  Céad caoga bliain ag fás agus ag forbairt ar son mhuintir  Bhoth Chomhla agus Na Sraithíní.

It boasts a first-hand account of a miracle at Knock many years ago, with photographs of the miraculous recipient.  It also contains many stories of some of its servants down through the years such as Ireland’s first Judo Priest, an all Ireland medallist priest from St. Nathys, Ballaghaderreen, the priest who learned to drive in an hour, another who became custodian of the Bohola native and great Olympian athlete, Martin Sheridan’s medals and the priest who became bishop for a day.  Múineann gá seift, nuair a bhíonn gá leis.

Bohola church supported the youthful formation in the community of many famous people such as Martin Sheridan who was baptised here in 1881 and after immigrating to America at the age of nineteen became one of the greatest Olympic Athletes of all time. Bill Keary who was baptised in Bohola church in 1897, attended the local school, made his first Holy Communion and Confirmation in the same church and immigrated to America to become President of the Empire State Building in New York.  The sanctuary in Bohola church is dedicated to the Keary family.   Bill O’Dwyer who was baptised in Bohola Church in 1890, emigrated to America in  1910 and went on to become US Ambassador to Mexico and the 100th Mayor of New York City.  His much younger brother Paul was baptised in Bohola church in 1907, he also emigrated to America where he was involved in politics.  He gained election to the position of President of New York’s City Council in the 1970’s and he was renowned as being one of  New York’s Liberal Battlists for Underdogs and Outsiders.  Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.
